Behind the name Junun hides an ambitious, inspiring and inspired project, combining Israelian Shye Ben-Tzur, Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead guitarist) and Rajasthan Express, all combined beautifully by director Paul Thomas Anderson. The album was partly recorded in Jodhpur in India, inside the Mehrangarh Fort, a fifteenth century building, in a makeshift studio organized for the occasion. Nigel Godrich, producer of Radiohead, worked with the group to finalize this sumptuous double-album. A disc that includes original compositions by Shye Ben-Tzur , combining the ecstasy of Sufi devotions to the Qawwal music tradition with his native Hebrew (Junun is another spelling of Junoon which means mania or madness of love).
